GST in india was a major reform that transformed this greatly diverse country into a single market with a simplified centralized tax system with clear demarcation between central and state taxes.
Most taxes are done away with after introduction of GST and have been replaced with a single tax structure , very few taxable items remain outside the ambit of GST.
Also the tax slabs are in constant flux and moving towards less number of slabs with each passing year.
Although GST was a great achievement it did caused some hardship for the business community in short run and also created some unique challenges. it also hurt some small businesses as their entire modus operandi came under threat.
But as the time passed and GST implementation got streamlined most Businesses started derving the benefits of a simplified tax structure and today GST has not just enabled a single indian market it has paved way for the further reform in indian Tax and business system
